We have often heard that anger is a negative emotion and being angry is a negative state of mind. So, how will we classify a person who we generally observe being furious? Will that person be called a negative person? We must understand that anger is only an emotion and cannot be one’s temperament. It is something which stems from some particular reasons and has its roots lying deep down somewhere in an individual’s mind. The kind of given circumstances people face are quite different from each other and thus prominent differences can be observed in their anger patterns.
But one thing can surely be generalized that anger is a common emotion and is present in some amount in every person.
As humans, we are capable of controlling our emotions and maintain a calm mindset during testing times, but anger is a state of mind where we may lose control over our mind and our thoughts. Once this happens, we become an example of the common saying that mostly wrong decisions are made when in anger. While it is true that angry decisions are harsh but sometimes, certain difficult ones, which we find tough to take or share with other people around us, are also declared in the flash of wrath. The pinching thoughts which were accumulating for long in the mind get blurted out in the state of rage.
If we decide to suppress our anger, it boils within us and the blazing fumes of rage cloud our mind. People are often angry over some serious issues but are observed to release it over petty things. And when two people get involved in a heated argument, then a third person watching the argument would observe two individuals fighting and not a mother-daughter or father-son or brother-sister arguing, for in their moment of fury, they have forgotten everything.
This is what anger does. This is how we lose control. Feeling angry is normal; moreover, it is a normal human attribute. But the way we cope with it has to be correct. I say so, because in my opinion, anger is like pollution. Pollution is an inevitable by-product of any industrial activity and can be really harmful. But if it is released in small amounts, under controlled conditions, after proper treatment, it can disappear into thin air without anyone realizing, just like anger.
