The Leader

Teamwork is a renowned and appreciated concept throughout the world. A team is known to solve the most complicated problems in minimum of time, for when multiple people put their brains on a particular problem, it ultimately leads to a viable solution.

The beads of the string

This unit may be as small as consisting of 5-6 people and as large as comprising of hundreds of them. These people are diverse in their opinions and their ways to work. Thus, it won’t come as a surprise if conflicts arise. In the journey to accomplish a task, there comes many points when the string of beads called the team is on the verge of falling apart. The members of the team, the beads, may not be able to stand too many jerks when together and can possibly separate into individual ones.

The string

In such situations, what binds the beads together ? The leader. Leaders aren’t the best ones in the group, they are the ones who bring out the best from everyone in the group. More than they understand their duty towards the team, they understand the duty of the team as a collective unit and work towards making it fulfil its duty. Like the string goes through each of the beads to hold them together, so does the leader. He/she understands the strengths, weaknesses and grievances of the team members to ensure that the team stays together. Leaders perform one of the toughest jobs of coordination and decision making.

The necklace

When the journey on the bumpy road has been covered, starting from the point when the first bead was added onto the string till the last, and the string comes full circle to join the first bead to the last, we get the necklace. Each bead sparkles gloriously. Each bead is important. The impeccable work deserves admiration. Still, the string remains between the beads, having a contact with each of them, holding them together. It may be concealed amidst the beads, but it needs to remain the strongest; a slight cut in the string, and the necklace falls apart.

When beads go their way

After the job is done, the beads part their ways, heading on to their separate endeavours. All the beads go to new teams, even the string gets new beads. But true leaders remember all their teams. And the great fact is that neither they forget the team, nor let the team members forget it.
